History

Pretty Things Boutique was started in the fall of 2007 by Cadence Macmichael as a small "kiosk" style business with just a few styles of vintage inspired dresses. Initially sharing space with another local business (Junk & Foibles) quickly developed a loyal following of customers and in 2008 Pretty Things Boutique became a full fledged store when it moved to 5685 Cunard Street in Halifax's beautiful North End neighborhood.
In 2010, Pretty Things Boutique expanded again to a new 2,000 square foot location in the heart of down town Halifax at 5240 Blowers Street! With the move they've added to the plus lines selections, and have added additional dressing rooms.

About the Owner

Cadence Macmichael (also founder of Halifax's Pink Velvet Burlesque troupe) had always been a fan of fashions from Hollywood's glamor period (circa 1940's to 1960's) and her passion was amplified with the revival of burlesque and the retro culture in the early 2000's. She draws her inspiration from the beautiful curvacious movie stars and pinups from the mid 20th century and modern burlesque queens.
In addition to owning Pretty Things Boutique Cadence also works freelance as a makeup artist and wardrobe stylist for photography, film, television, and commercials. She also produces modern burlesque shows in Halifax Nova Scotia.
